I've spent the last couple days taking care of logisitics for school and stuff.
There were, however, some highlights.
1) learned from one of the girls in my tour group that Dutch is much easier to interpret that one might imagine. The words look completely ridiculous, but if you sound them out-- voila! Translated to English. For example, the bar on campus is called Kultuurkaffee. (huh what?) But after sounding it out, it sounds like Culture Cafe. brilliance. i practiced reading an entire Dutch sign today. And I think I even got the gist of it (something about international banking) wooo!
2) I had to go get MORE passport pictures taken yesterday (Third set of pictures I've needed, good grief). I sat down in the chair, smiled for the camera, and then the photographer man (in heavily French-accented English) attempted to explain to me that I could not smile. Finally got the point across, then took another picture. I had to order 8 prints. And I look utterly ridiculous in the picture--it looks like a mug shot. Who knew you couldn't smile in passport pictures...I do it all the time!
3) Have yet to try a belgian waffle, but have heard from multiple sources here that they are FANTASTIC!!! Goal for this weekend: eat waffles. I'll keep you posted.
