Midterm week...DONE!!! Except for my French midterm, which isn't until Tuesday. It always seems like French finds it way into these blog posts, doesn't it? I wish I could say that I did really exciting things this week, but I mostly just studied. Dave and I had a gigantic study session together for the class we have together on Thursday night. We stayed up EXTREMELY late, but I think it went well!
On Tuesday, I was recruited by my European studies teacher (mentioned in my previous post) to meet with a study abroad coordinator from a school in the United States who will start sending students to Brussels next year. I think she just wanted to get a student perspective on the Brussels experience. I was basically bribed to go to this meeting (along with two other girls) with promises of free coffee and pastries. I must say, the croissants here are DELICIOUS.
This was an interesting meeting though, because in the process of telling the abroad coordinator about my experience with Vesalius thus far, I also realized how much I've already learned from the experience. It also helped me think of some of the highlights of my stay so far- travelling with my class, living with my host family, meeting people from other schools in the USA as well as students from around the world...
In other news, tomorrow I'm heading to Louven for the day. About 20 minutes outside of Brussels, it is also the location of the largest college in Belgium, meaning it is your typical college town. Dave's been there several times, and told me that this Dutch speaking town is also full of bicyclists (like Amsterdam!). I'm excited to see the distinctive culture there.
To celebrate the end of midterms, the VSG (Vesalius Student Government- Vesalius is my school), is having a school-themed party tonight. I'm interested to see what that will be like...I'm getting ready to head there now!
